Fire & Water - Cleanup & Restoration

Fire and Smoke Damage Require Special Handling. SERVPRO® of Denver North Provides It.

Has your home incurred fire or smoke damage? Are you unsure of where to start? We know! Our SERVPRO® of Denver North teams are specially trained to handle all levels of fire and smoke damage.

SERVPRO of Denver North

According to the United States Fire Administration (USFA), the good news is that the number of residential fires, last reported in 2019, has been trending downward since 2010. The bad news is the number is still enormous at an average of 1,291,500 per year, with most of them being preventable.

Injuries and deaths have decreased (thankfully), but the costs of fire damage have increased, to approximately $14.8 billion per year.

Hiring a professional remediation and restoration company helps keep costs down. If you are faced with cleaning up after fire, smoke, or soot damage in your home, call SERVPRO of Denver North as soon as possible. We also handle water damage from burst pipes (even sewage) or fire suppression, and the possible microbial growth (such as mold) that is a frequent consequence of water damage.

What You Can Do vs. What You Shouldn’t Do

We understand you want to help protect your home; there are steps you can take that are helpful. There are also things that you should save for the professionals as they are either dangerous, likely to cause more harm than good, or both.

Do:

  • Limit movement to prevent fire residue from embedding in upholstery, rugs, or carpets
  • Keep hands clean and off furniture, walls, woodwork
  • Wash houseplants on both sides of the leaves
  • Change HVAC filters

Do Not:

  • Wash surfaces without consulting us like different types of residue require different cleaners and techniques and different surfaces also require different cleaners and techniques
  • Turn on appliances if there is any chance the wiring is wet
  • Try to lift or move wet furniture or appliances – we have lifts that help us move heavy objects
  • Send clothing or linens to an ordinary dry cleaner because improper cleaning may set in the smoke odor

Trivia!

Ice cream maker Sebastian Joe’s invented a garlic-flavored ice cream that has yet to catch on among ice cream lovers. Garlic lovers try it at the annual Gilroy Garlic Festival –- only once.
